Day 4: Warriors Go To The Capitol

Today we woke up early, ate a big breakfast, packed up the bus and then headed to the Capitol for our group photos and tour. Congressman Duncan's office was leading us through the building. We were divided into three groups and began our tour with a very patriotic movie about the founding of Washington, D.C. and the building of the Capitol itself. The guides did a great job of teaching us.
Our wonderful chaperones organizing the students for a group picture.

Sunrise over our Capitol building.

The statue of "Freedom" atop of the dome. Such a beautiful building and gorgeous morning. Thank you Jesus for this gorgeous weather. It could not have been more perfect!

On our walk to the visitor center entrance.

Nolan was our birthday boy on Friday. He got a free lunch at the Capitol Cafe and a piece of yummy key lime pie for his dessert.

Warriors at the Capitol. Such a fun group of kids!

Waiting to start our tour in the visitor center.

The crypt where George Washington was supposed to be buried.

Caroline was one of the tour leaders from Congressman Duncan's office.

The original clock in the old senate chamber.
Entering the rotunda.

Glad we wore our trip shirts this day. It was easy to spot our group and it was our coolest morning.

The rotunda of the Capitol.

Each state is allowed to have two statues in the Capitol. This is one of ours: Andrew Jackson.

The other is John Sevier.

Did you know he was a U.S. citizen?

After the Capitol tour we made our way by tunnel to the Library of Congress to see its gorgeous architecture. I'm sure there will be many published pieces from this talented group cataloged here someday. Then we had lunch at the Capitol Cafe and headed home.

This was a simply a wonderful trip. I don't think it could have gone any smoother. We want to say thank you to the parent chaperones who gave of their time to come work with us. It was a pleasure to get to know you better and serve along side you.

Again thank you to Robert our wonderful driver, and to the administration at CAK for allowing our students to engage in enrichment opportunities off of campus.

Warriors in D.C. 2016 was a fabulous trip!
